NBA 2K15 Roster Analysis 12/2/14 - Atlantic Division
Been awhile since I've had some free time... let's see where the 2K rosters stand.... have time for an Atlantic Division post.
Rotations are mine and not 2K's (load up the roster to check the differences). I adjusted first positions which leads to some OVR rating differences (which I mention).
------------------------------------------------
TORONTO RAPTORS
13-4 (1st East, 3rd NBA)
8.55 SRS (1st East, 2nd NBA)
STARTERS
85/PG Kyle Lowry (35)
77/PG Greivis Vasquez (32)
77/SG Terrence Ross (34)
77/PF Amir Johnson (26)
79/C Jonas Valanciunas (27)
BENCH
74/PF Patrick Patterson (25)
77/SG Louis Williams (25)
73/SF James Johnson (22)
69/C Chuck Hayes (8)
71/C Tyler Hansbrough (6)
69/SF Landry Fields (0)
66/C Greg Stiemsma (0)
64/SF Bruno Caboclo (0)
INACTIVE
67/PF Lucas Nogueira (0)
82/SF DeMar DeRozan (INJURED, NO ETA)
OVERRATED
82/SF DeMar DeRozan (16.7 PER, 49 TS%, 29 USG%)
DeRozan rates four points higher at SG, where 2K has him listed, and his production is not worthy of an 86 (Lowry has been the Raptors best player dating back to last season). 41 Defensive Rebound, 40 Boxout, and a criminally low 40 Post Defense appear to be the reason his rating tanks so hard when switched to SF (appropriate ratings in these categories would lead to an 84 rating, still a bit high given his current level of production).
UNDERRATED
85/PG Kyle Lowry (22.8 PER, 55 TS%, 25 USG%, 9 TO%)
For the second straight season Lowry has been the best guard in the eastern conference (with apologies to oft-injured Dwyane Wade), yet he still rates lower than Derrick Rose (88) Rajon Rondo (87), Kyrie Irving (87), and on par with Deron Williams (85). Unlike last season, Joe Johnson won't be robbing Lowry of a clear all-star nod (god-willing) and it's high-time that 2K took notice.
79/C Jonas Valanciunas (21.0 PER, 63 TS%, 19 USG%, 29 DRB%)
Guess who's an all-star center the Cavaliers could have drafted over Tristan Thompson?
77/SG Louis Williams (23.2 PER, 59 TS%, 28 USG%, 8 TO%)
No longer attempting to masquerade as a PG (only 8 AST%) and focusing solely on scoring, Williams has never attained this level of efficiency before. Averaging 15 PPG in a mere 21 MPG, he'll be relied upon heavily in the wake of DeRozan's injury.
73/SF James Johnson (17.5 PER, 62 TS%, 15 USG%, 5.5 BLK%)
Last season was no fluke.
PRIMARY POSITION ADJUSTMENT
SHOOTING GUARD: Terrence Ross (+1)
SMALL FORWARD: DeMar DeRozan (-4)
POWER FORWARD: Lucas Nogueira (+1)
CENTER: Tyler Hansbrough (-1)

BROOKLYN NETS
6-9 (9th East, 19th NBA)
-3.43 SRS (9th East, 21st NBA)
STARTERS
85/PG Deron Williams (37)
72/SG Bojan Bogdanovic (32)
84/SF Joe Johnson (36)
77/PF Kevin Garnett (24)
82/C Brook Lopez (29)
BENCH
73/PG Jarrett Jack (26)
72/PF Mirza Teletovic (25)
72/SF Alan Anderson (18)
78/C Mason Plumlee (11)
69/C Jerome Jordan (2)
66/PF Cory Jefferson (0)
65/PG Jorge Gutierrez (0)
69/SG Markel Brown (0)
INACTIVE
66/SF Sergey Karasev (0)
66/SF Sergey Karasev (0)
72/PF Andrei Kirilenko (PERSONAL, NO ETA)
OVERRATED
84/SF Joe Johnson (15.6 PER, 53 TS%, 22 USG%)
It's finally safe to say Johnson won't be an all-star this season (his production is similar to last season, but Deron Williams is playing better).
82/C Brook Lopez (16.9 PER, 55 TS%, 26 USG%)
Having the worst season of his career, as it seems his foot injuries have finally taken their toll on his production. Given his limitations/risks he should be coming off the bench or getting reduced minutes. #FreeMasonPlumlee
72/SG Bojan Bogdanovic (9.4 PER, 54 TS%, 16 USG%, 7 DRB%)
Listed at SF (74 OVR) by 2K, BB thus far has been one-dimensional and an inefficient scorer.
UNDERRATED
72/PF Mirza Teletovic (15.5 PER, 57 TS%, 21 USG%)
A big reason why Plumlee's minutes have been limited while Kirilenko is completely out of the rotation.
PRIMARY POSITION ADJUSTMENTS
SHOOTING GUARD: Bojan Bogdanovic (-2), Alan Anderson (-1)
SMALL FORWARD: Joe Johnson (NC)

BOSTON CELTICS
4-10 (11th East, 23rd NBA)
-2.08 (6th East, 18th NBA)
STARTERS
87/PG Rajon Rondo (31)
87/PG Rajon Rondo (31)
78/SG Avery Bradley (31)
79/SF Jeff Green (34)
78/PF Jared Sullinger (30)
70/C Tyler Zeller (17)
BENCH
BENCH
75/C Kelly Olynyk (26)
76/SF Evan Turner (22)
75/PF Brandon Bass (21)
75/SG Marcus Thornton (15)
70/PG Phil Pressey (13)
74/SF Gerald Wallace (0)
68/SG James Young (0)
66/PF Dwight Powell (0)
INACTIVE
INACTIVE
76/PG Marcus Smart (INJURED, ETA DECEMBER)
72/C Vitor Faverani (INJURED, NO ETA)
OVERRATED
87/PG Rajon Rondo (16.1 PER, 45 TS%, 18 USG%)
He is 9-30 from the FT line this season. Averaging 9 PPG on a team devoid of talent, it goes without saying Rondo is no longer an all-star. It should say a lot that the vaunted defensive backcourt of Rondo/Bradley has carried the Celtics all the way to 27th in defensive efficiency (that's terrible).
78/SG Avery Bradley (11.1 PER, 53 TS%, 21 USG%, 5 AST%)
Overrated scorer/shooter (only 32 3PT%, 36% for career, with 87 3PT-SS). His passing skills have not developed one iota since entering the league.
74/SF Gerald Wallace (3.6 PER, 32 TS%, 6 USG%, 9 DNP-CD)
As was evident last season, Crash's days as an effective player are behind him.
UNDERRATED
78/PF Jared Sullinger (20.5 PER, 53 TS%, 23 USG%, 6.6 TO%)
It's not often we see a scoring big man with a nearly 3:1 A/T ratio.
70/C Tyler Zeller (19.5 PER, 71 TS%, 15 USG%)
Zeller, who just earned the starting job in Boston, has been underrated dating back to last season.
------------------------------------------------
NEW YORK KNICKS
4-14 (13th East, 27th NBA)
-7.76 SRS (14th East, 28th NBA)
STARTERS
78/PG Jose Calderon (23)
78/SG Iman Shumpert (24)
90/SF Carmelo Anthony (32)
70/PF Quincy Acy (24)
74/C Samuel Dalembert (20)
BENCH
77/C Amar'e Stoudemire (23)
72/PG Shane Larkin (20)
77/SG Tim Hardaway Jr. (17)
76/SF J.R. Smith (17)
72/PG Pablo Prigioni (16)
74/PF Jason Smith (15)
66/PF Travis Wear (9)
67/C Cole Aldrich (0)
INACTIVE
SF Cleanthony Early (INJURED, ETA JANUARY)
C Andrea Bargnani (INJURED, NO ETA)
OVERRATED
77/SG Tim Hardaway Jr. (12.2 PER, 51 TS%, 23 USG%)
One dimensional role-player.
76/SG J.R. Smith (10.0 PER, 47 TS%, 22 USG%, 22 AST%)
Worst scoring numbers of his career - as bad as when he was a 19-year old rookie out of high school. At least he's passing the ball more.
72/PG Shane Larkin (9.2 PER, 49 TS%, 12 USG%, 15 AST%)
He just isn't very good.
UNDERRATED
78/PF Amar'e Stoudemire (20.9 PER, 59 TS%, 24 USG%, 13 ORB%, 25 DRB%)
Rebounding on both ends (career marks) to supplement his always effective offensive play. One of the few Knicks playing well.

SMALL FORWARD: J.R. Smith (-1)
CENTER: Amar'e Stoudemire (-1)
CENTER: Amar'e Stoudemire (-1)

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

STARTERS
80/PG Michael Carter-Williams (35)
70/SG Hollis Thompson (24)
72/SF Luc Mbah a Moute (26)
75/C Nerlens Noel (32)
67/C Henry Sims (26)

69/PF Brandon Davies (20)
68/PG Alexey Shved (16)
70/SF Robert Covington (12)

76/PG Tony Wroten (INJURED, ETA DECEMBER)
73/SG Jason Richardson (INJURED, ETA JANUARY)
77/C Joel Embiid (INJURED, NO ETA)
OVERRATED
80/PG Michael Carter Williams (11.8 PER, 44 TS%, 31 USG%)
80/PG Michael Carter Williams (11.8 PER, 44 TS%, 31 USG%)
MCW's per game numbers (16/7/6) are only strong when ignoring his shooting percentages and turnover rate.
76/PF Nerlens Noel (10.5 PER, 47 TS%, 15 USG%, 5 ORB%)
Not getting it done on the offensive glass which kills any chance of him being an effective offensive player.
UNDERRATED
71/SG Alexey Shved (20.1 PER, 55 TS%, 27 USG%, 36 AST%)
Rates only 68 at PG, the position he should be listed at. Shooting and passing much better than he did with Minnesota.
67/C Henry Sims (15.0 PER, 55 TS%, 18 USG%)
Much better offensive player than his ratings reflect. Has been team's starting center since acquisition in February.
FIRST POSITION ADJUSTMENTS
POINT GUARD: Alexey Shved (-3)
